Exhibition of graduate works of graduates of the 2018 course "Fashion Design" "10!" will open on August 1 at the Center for Fashion and Design.

The name of the exhibition was not chosen by chance: this year the course celebrates its 10th anniversary. The 17 best graduates will present collections of both women's and men's clothing.

"The exhibition of diploma works of the British becomes an annual tradition of the Center for Fashion and Design of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts. It is interesting for us and our visitors to observe how the topic of graduation projects is changing, how the form and content of things are being transformed, what new trends are appearing and what global trends are occupied by our designers, what questions they care about, what makes young art live. As for the museum it is very important for us that this year the exhibition is being built as a research project dedicated to the semiotics of fashion, comprehending the results of marketing and neurological research, as well as touching on the topic of cultural heritage transformation. And for beginning designers, this exhibition is an opportunity to get feedback from the audience, like-minded people and from future buyers "

Natalya Loginova, Head of the Fashion and Design Center

All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts.

The event itself will act as an important link in the communication of the designer and the audience, visitors to the exhibition can not just look at the clothes, but also learn the concept and philosophy of each of the projects. The structure of the exposition of the exhibition was formed by 8 relevant topics and trends, including "Conditional Space", "Accidentality", "Metamodern".

This year, the curators of the exhibition were: Svetlana Fateeva - researcher of the semiotics of fashion brands, Ekaterina Shuvchinskaya - designer and creator of the magazine about young art Aboutyoungego, Lyudmila Andreeva - graduate of the course, designer of the clothing brand A027, and Anna Chernykh and Vladimir Tilinin - curators of the course “Fashion Design” BVShD.

Comments of the curators of the exhibition "10!":

"The foundation we rely on - that makes sense. The world of things today, for the most part, is either filled with meaningless repetitions, or it is a marketing buzz. A growing number of things create a background in which modern man has lost himself as a unit of meaning.

While working on graduation projects, students experimented with the information they received while observing topics of concern to them. New ideas and new meanings make it possible to see a new person. "

Vladimir Tilinin

“Increasingly, the largest museums in the world hold exhibitions dedicated to fashion designers of the past and the present. They cause great resonance among the audience, who has stood idle for hours to see seemingly strange clothes. At the same time, recent neurological studies have recorded similar brain activity in consumers, looking at images of favorite brands and among believers contemplating religious images.

All this eloquently testifies to the fact that the role of clothing in our life is not only and not so much utilitarian as poetic. We fill it with important and attractive meanings. The marketing of leading fashion brands has reached such a high level of mastery that their adherent falls into the complex maze of interconnected associations. Only a connoisseur is able to establish hidden connections between them, to distinguish semantic levels from purely tailor to sociocultural and mythopoetic. Wearing this or that thing, we unwittingly become co-authors of a fashionable narrative. At one time, Dior, giving a name to each dress in the "baptismal rite", admitted that only on the model he was given to understand its final meaning (signification). Today, many young designers are creative in manufacturing products and hope to see in their customer not so much a consumer as a like-minded person.

Svetlana Fateeva

“During the rapid globalization and intensive introduction of new technologies, it is very important to pay attention to awareness in production and consumption. The young generation of designers takes responsibility for creating a new reality. Studying and transforming the cultural heritage, the graduate collections reflect contemporary reality, look into the future and send to the past. Ethnofuturism, new universality and information management have become the main topics of ethnofuturism "
