Boucle fabric appeared in the middle of the last century, becoming the favorite material of the legendary Coco Chanel.
When a boucle is mentioned, they mean, as a rule, a fabric made by the method of plain weaving. In some cases, we are talking about a woolen texture - but this is not necessary. The material is made through the use of fancy yarn; its texture is as follows: it contains small nodes that are located at some distance from each other. If you use such yarn, then the fabricated material will eventually be all in these knots, that is, it will become rough (sometimes they say "bumpy") to the touch; in some cases, you can recognize such tissue by eye.But this is not the only way to make boucle. According to science, a boucle can be made without knots, but from yarn that is twisted, but the patterned weaving method must be used. More precisely - fine-grained. In this case, not only wool can be used, but even cotton or, for example, viscose. All of these options ultimately have a common name - boucle.
Varieties of Boucle Fabrics
It is not true that a boucle can only be thick and stiff. With the same probability, it can be thin and quite soft. Case in various applications. Thick cloth can be used for sewing coats or jackets. Jackets with knots are currently fashionable. Rarely, but you can see some types of shoes from thick and stiff boucle.A thin variety is used to sew warm dresses (or suits) of female styles; curtains are also fashionable now. No need to check the quality of the booklet by its density.
You need to know that during production they specially reduce the density to get a softer, friable surface. If we talk about winter clothes, such as a coat, then it should be noted that colored yarn is more popular, but monophonic fibers are also used, although less often. We list the main fibers of which may be boucle. Arrange them in the order of distribution:
- wool;
- viscose;
- cotton;
- synthetics;
- silk.
Now this fabric is very common, but it is interesting to know that only the last 30–40 years were adapted for sewing clothes; Variegated coats are especially popular now. Since then, since the beginning of the 70s, the popularity of fabric has grown. First of all, because the products are very warm, albeit not very practical. Wash them is not so simple; it’s easy to catch on something and ruin your sleeve or hem. But there are advantages - it is extremely easy to work with the material, and even for those who rarely deal with sewing. The fact is that the structure of the fabric allows you to hide minor defects.
Boucle Care
It has already been mentioned that boucle can be made of various fibers. This is a decisive factor; it is clear that cotton and wool should be washed differently. It must be remembered that it is very easy to spoil the appearance of this fabric, it is quite delicate, the main enemy is puffs and delamination.Also, the boucle is quite simply stretched, for this reason it is better not to let clothes of your size be worn by more complete people. Finally, you can advise you not to try to erase the items from the booklet yourself.
Coat fabric boucle is widely represented in the Tessutidea fabric warehouse.
