Today, women have the opportunity to independently plan pregnancy, determine the number of desired children and the time intervals between their birth. But how do they take this opportunity?
September 26 is traditionally celebrated World Contraception Day. In anticipation of the holiday company Bayer conducted an All-Russian study on contraception.
According to the results, the vast majority of respondents are positive about female contraceptives. But despite the awareness of the importance of preventing an unwanted pregnancy, many Muscovites do not currently use any contraception!
According to the respondents, the most effective and harmless method of contraception is considered to be a condom, and oral contraceptives take the second place. An interesting fact is that as they grow older, the proportion of condom supporters decreases by almost a third! And more and more women are switching to combined oral contraceptives (COCs).
The decision regarding future pregnancy should be made by both partners together. In this case, before conception, you need to take care of your health: quit smoking, limit alcohol consumption, carefully monitor your diet, play sports. It does not interfere with a medical examination and do not forget about the importance of taking vitamins before and during pregnancy. In addition, you need to remember about age: 38 years is the threshold when a woman’s ability to conceive is sharply reduced.
“Planning is the key to a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Now more and more young couples are beginning to think about pregnancy not in fact of its accomplishment, but in advance. The appearance of a child in the family is a very responsible step, for which it is necessary to prepare both morally, psychologically and physiologically so that the baby is born healthy, - shared Parshikova Olga Vasilievna, doctor of the highest category, head of the newborn department of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic named after V.F.Snegirev First Moscow State Medical University. THEM. Sechenov.- Planning must begin with a visit to a gynecologist who examines a woman at the reception and gives recommendations on a further action plan. When planning a pregnancy, it is very important to remember the folate status of the expectant mother - to prevent the development of a neural tube defect in a child, it is necessary to take 400 micrograms of folate daily for at least a month before conception and for 3 months after conception. "
Very often, when choosing a method of contraception, women worry about a possible decrease in libido, especially with regard to oral contraception. A decrease in libido is detected, as a rule, in those who initially have a tendency to depression and mood swings. When using COCs, the fear of an unwanted pregnancy tends to decrease, which undoubtedly positively affects sexual desire. A woman feels more confident and achieves greater satisfaction with sexual relations with a partner.
