Feet for a sewing machine are the main components, without which the sewing process is impossible. The standard foot for the sewing machines is versatile, straight-line, for sewing in zippers, for buttonhole stitching. In addition to them, there are many special paws, for example, a foot for sewing in hidden zippers, for sewing buttons, for satin stitches, for sewing a cord, for making a blind seam, for darning, embroidery and many others.

By the way, many do not even use them, although they are included with the machine. And all these legs are in special compartments for storing accessories for years. But each of them is a little helper who is able not only to facilitate the sewing process, but also to speed up and make better the performance of certain operations. For example, tailoring leather and suede products, knitwear and jeans, silk and chiffon using special paws, will become a convenient and easy process.

Types of sewing foots

Assembly foot

With its help, you can make an assembled line on a typewriter and save time. The density of the assembly is regulated by the tension of the upper thread and the width of the stitch. With a wider stitch, the assembly is thicker. Thin tissue is harnessed stronger, thicker and denser - less.
To get the expected result when performing this operation, first try to pick up on a piece of fabric from which you are going to sew the product. Cut a piece of a certain length and see how long the assembly will turn out. In this way, you can calculate the entire length of the frill.

Upper Conveyor or Walking Foot

allows you to grind several layers of fabric at the same time, without shifting them. It copes with stitching. This foot is used for patchwork and quilting.

Teflon foot

Designed for sewing genuine leather, leatherette and coated fabrics. Instead of the Teflon foot, you can use the roller foot, which, due to the torque, propels the fabric forward. Which of these two legs to give preference, the chosen fabric will tell. The roller foot also copes well with heavy materials, some types of raincoat and jacket fabrics.

Universal zipper foot

In addition to its main task, it can be used to trim the product edging. If the edging is narrow, then you need to sew it, like a zipper. If wide - close to the edge.

A foot with a "snail" for sewing an oblique inlay

eliminates the process of tacking inline manually and significantly speeds up the process. To work with it, it is enough to cut a strip of fabric along the oblique desired width, tuck into the foot and you can sew. It turns out neatly and beautifully.
Important! The width of the alleged inline is recommended in the foot instructions. If you cut or take the finished tape wider than necessary, then it will not be wrapped correctly, and excess tissue will cause the tape to wrinkle inside the device.
The foot for sewing on an oblique bei is suitable for both finished and unfolded. The finished inlay is inserted higher through the gap in the "snail". And deployed - in the main hole of the foot.
If there are several holes in the "snail" and they are of different sizes, then with the help of such a foot you can sew inlets of various widths. And also these openings facilitate forward slanting.

Universal foot for sewing bias tape

Tuck foot

provides an ideal process - the speed of the operation is increased, the quality is improved, labor costs are reduced, the tucks are smooth and at the same distance from each other. Before starting work, mark the line of the first line. In order to make the pinches more textured, convex, put a special plastic tongue under the fabric (they come in different sizes). Very narrow tucks, 1 mm wide, are made using a thread for overcasting loops.
