What brooch will turn out will primarily depend on which thread and braid you make it from.

A variety of materials can be used for such a brooch. Pieces of braid are suitable, both narrow and wide, long strips of fabric that you like, textured, voluminous or smooth knitting yarn and so on. You can take contrasting colors or choose close shades - it all depends on your desire and imagination. For the basis of weaving, it is better to take smooth thin cotton threads for knitting.

Brooch "Blue Whale" from beads on felt: a master class

Step 1

Decide what size your brooch will be. Cut a rectangle out of cardboard. Its short side will be equal to the width of your brooch. The long side is the height of the brooch + 4-6 cm.

Mark the short sides of the rectangle every 0.5 cm. Make cuts along the marking.

Step 2

Start threading the warp in the slots. Leave the tip on the wrong side of the cardboard.

It should be like this:

And on the reverse side - like this:

Pull the thread through all the slots and cut the tip. The ends of the thread can be tied on the back.

Step 3

We start weaving. Pass a piece of yarn into the needle and pass the needle between the warp threads through one. Leave a 2–3 cm end of thread.

In the next row, we pass the needle between the warp threads in a checkerboard pattern with respect to the first row.

Use the tip of the needle to seal the rows of weaving, but do not push the work to the edge of the base. Leave about 2-3 cm of loose warp.

When the thread runs out, pull the thread out of the eyelet and leave the tip free.

We put a thread, braid or strip of fabric into the needle, which will be the next in weaving. We continue to weave in the same order, periodically sealing the rows of weaving with a needle.

Leave the ends of the threads and braid free, we will remove them later.

Continue this way until you weave the brooch to the desired height.

Step 4

Turn over the weaving to the wrong side. Scissors cut the loops of the thread one by one.

Cut - and then we connect the cut ends with a double knot.

Cut and tie all warp threads. From the inside, it will look like in the photo above.

Step 5

Now you need to tuck all the ends of the threads into weaving from the inside. It is convenient to thread the long ends of yarn and braid (ducks) with the same needle, and short warp threads with a thin crochet hook.

As a result, the future brooch on the front side will look like this:

Step 6

Add a solid base.To do this, we cut out two identical rectangles from felt, slightly smaller than the wicker part of the brooch.

Round the corners.

In one center rectangle, make two cuts to the size of the brooch pin and thread the pin into them.

From cardboard we cut out a part that will give brooches of density. A cardboard part is needed in such a size that the edges of the felt part protrude by 3 mm.

Step 7

Collecting a brooch. First, glue the felt rectangle without a pin onto the wicker part from the inside.

Then - a piece of cardboard, placing it in the center.

We well glue both the cardboard part and the edges of the felt part with glue.

And finally, glue the part with a pin. Press the edges of the felt parts well against each other.

It remains to wait until the glue dries, and you're done.
