Once he was the subject of a purely male wardrobe, and today women - stylish, confident, can not do without it!

To put on a vest, a woman always had to have a certain degree of courage. This is probably why, first of all, strong and independent women ventured to include it in their wardrobe.
The current fashion offers us vests in all variations: from richly embroidered, as in the latest collection of Philip Lim, to classic ones, like Sonya Riquel. But the most attractive thing in a vest is that in any combination - with a simple t-shirt or elegant blouse - it immediately gives the ensemble a witty look.
20-40s
Women are desperately fighting for their rights. Many of them, especially residents of big cities, even want to look like men, which is reflected in fashion. Women begin to cut their hair short, try to make their breasts invisible, wear classic men's clothes - the garzon style arises. One of its brightest representatives, Marlene Dietrich, appears in the light in a tuxedo, which shocks the bourgeois public. In Paris, an unsuccessful attempt was even made to ban the actress from appearing in this form in the city center. In the United States, film star Katherine Hepburn, confidently shining with chic outfits in a man's style, has become an example for several generations of American women.
50–70s
With the return to the fashion of conservatism, the vest disappears from the catwalks, giving way to suits of a tight-fitting silhouette and wide fluffy skirts. But when the hippie movement swept America and Europe in the 60s, the vest regained popularity. The new fashion was relaxed and non-conformist, like the hippies themselves, who propagandize peace, free love and the right to live as one wants. Children of flowers wore crocheted or richly embroidered folklore vests over transparent blouses, or even - horror! - on a naked body.
80−90s
Strong-willed and purposeful women boldly invade the labor market, making serious competition to men. Fashion corresponded to these aspirations: wide models with shoulder pads personified the power of women, business clothes - trouser or classic suits with vests - became more and more popular. However, by the end of the 90s, the vest is more common in knitted or crocheted versions.
2000s
Perhaps there is not a single photograph taken by the paparazzi in which this top model would have been without a vest. We are talking about the star of the catwalks Kate Moss, which gave the vest a cult status, creating bold sexy combinations with it. And of course, they are an important part of the collection coming out under her name.
